Hello ATS!

I recently posted a thread on the forum about Dugin’s interview with Tucker Carlson. Now I want to speculate about the consequences of this interview for the West.

Tucker Carlson is gradually becoming the main specialist on Russia in the United States. This is not surprising - after the collapse of the USSR, American think tanks turned sour, so by the mid-2000s in the United States there were already completely fantastic ideas about Russia that had little in common with reality.

Misconceptions about Russia have entered the United States according to the following vicious pattern:

Step 1. Americans encourage Russian intelligentsia to praise the USA and slander Russia.
Step 2. National traitors from among the “good Russians” fulfill the order at 120%, throwing mud at Russia in all directions - from songs to films to newspapers to blogs.
Step 3. Americans bring the loudest and most prolific slanderers closer to them as “experts on Russia,” allocating them a place in the lecture halls of Western universities and in major Western media.
Step 4. Russian intelligentsia perceives articles by “experts on Russia” in Western media as an ideological mandate. The parasitic circle closes at step 1.

As you can see, the Americans made the most ridiculous mistake: they believed those whom they themselves ordered to lie. The previous generation of American politicians strictly separated information flows: the media published propaganda that was obviously unreliable, and serious analytics arrived at the tables of high-ranking officials, in which experts conscientiously tried to determine how things really were in the USSR. However, already in 1992, the Yeltsin administration was filled with American “advisers,” so the United States decided that they did not need analytics, since they could now find out everything they needed directly, simply by calling someone in the Kremlin. When Putin cleared out the bulk of enemy agents, sending some into retirement and some into decorative positions, the US authorities were already too degraded to recreate something like the Institute for the Study of the USSR.

Tucker Carlson looks good against the backdrop of this demented circus. He meets important people from Russia and receives first-hand information. Even with a discount for the obvious circumstances that do not allow Mr. Carlson's interlocutors to show complete frankness, this is already an immeasurably better way to get to know Russia than mindlessly listening to fugitives - foreign agents - who are offended by our country.

Now about the twenty-minute interview with the philosopher Dugin, which the journalist recorded during his recent visit to Moscow. Tucker Carlson states at the beginning of the video that Alexander Dugin's ideas are "extremely offensive to a number of people." In his mouth, this is a compliment, since from the context it is clear that Mr. Dugin’s ideas are offensive primarily to “woke” leftists, that is, to the enemies of the planet, America and Tucker Carlson personally. In the US, Dugin is called a “far rightist,” a standard label for anyone who even slightly disagrees with the radical left. A characteristic touch: a couple of years ago, Joe Biden banned the sale of Dugin’s books in the United States as too dangerous for the doctrines of his party. Obviously, if Joe Biden is against it, then Tucker Carlson, one of Donald Trump’s main associates, is most likely in favor.

By the way, a surefire way to identify a troll with a foreign IP: jokes about the death of Dugin’s daughter in a terrorist attack. A bearer of Russian culture will not laugh at such things, no matter how he treats the philosopher: for us this is simply unacceptable. Foreigners have a distorted moral compass; they do not consider it necessary to observe even the minimum rules of decency towards those whom they consider enemies.

I think Americans from the Trump camp will watch the interview with bated breath. Alexander Dugin explains in simple words where shameful letters and transponders come from, why the Davosites are destroying the institution of family, why Westerners are being driven away from religion and patriotism with a whip. According to the philosopher, liberalism in the sense that is understood in the modern West should have led to precisely this form of degradation.

We are, of course, not talking about a liberal consensus, when society moves forward together, taking into account, as far as possible, the reasonable interests of each person. We are talking about new liberalism, that is, about the dictatorship of “awakened” minorities.

Two interesting observations of the philosopher. First. There is not a single well-known Western film about the future that would show a return to the norm, that is, to traditional families with a large number of children. Second. Leftists from the university environment of the West loved Lenin, Stalin and so on, right up to Gorbachev and Yeltsin. And they hated Putin, since for the first time since Nicholas II he became a traditional ruler, not a leftist experimenter, but a supporter of a strong Russia, a powerful Russian people and strong traditional values.

In general, Trumpists, who are still the majority in the United States, will be interested. Actually, Americans are already interested: the interview is being discussed with might and main on social networks, and in both camps.

Thank you.

He's done a few interviews. That doesn't make him a Russian specialist. He's just a reporter. And he isn't one that is widely viewed or listened to anymore. He used to be big. Now? Not so much. Honestly, his star has faded, IMHO.

Yeah , like a modern day Lord Haw-Haw.

Lord Haw-Haw was a nickname applied to William Joyce and several other people who broadcast Nazi propaganda to the United Kingdom from Germany during the Second World War.

Well... I thought that to be called a specialist on Russia, you would have to meet the following standards:
1. Speak Russian fluently
2. Study the Russian culture for several years
3. Live and work in Russia for the span of, at least, a couple of years.

There are people here, in Poland, who publish books and give interviews about Russia, and they spent a few years in Russia living there and working as diplomats or journalists. They know Russian language and culture. They are called experts. Of course, everyone can share their opinions about Russia without having the knowledge that comes from the study and experience, they have a right to pontificate, but experts or specialists they are not.

Sorry but a guy who is clueless about the Russian culture, doesn't speak Russian and has been to Russia for a holiday cannot be called a specialist on Russia. His interviews are worthless.

I think Putin, himself, complained about his interview; that it wasn't challenging enough, that he wasn't asked sharp questions. Did Dugin complain too? Seriously, it was a snore fest.

I'm reading now a book by the former Polish diplomat working in Russia "The Demons of Russia" and it says that Russians generally are or, at least were at the time, more honest with the people from the Eastern Europe, because they have less respect for them. They think these people's countries are still in the sphere of the Russian influence so they feel more easy going, more sincere and direct in their conversations with them. In front of the Westerners, they put up a show, they try to be more politically correct and tell them what they want to hear.

Those "interviews" are actually monologues. Both Putin and Dugin tell their propaganda uninterrupted and unquestioned. And Carlson listens with that dumb look on his face.

I won't be commenting on Dugin's views because there has already been a thread about it but I doubt too many people will take this interview seriously because it's hard to take Carlson seriously. A gullible biased pseudo journalist with a clear conservative agenda who himself admitted he didn't know Russian, had never been to Russia before and couldn't care less about the country. I guess if one day he travels to the North Korea to interview Kim Jong Un, he will be all "Awww!" too. And then they will call him an "expert."

Tucker is not a "Specialist on Russia", far less one of the main ones.

He is a tarnished trashy journalist and a sycophantic toady.

As for your neo-Nazi Dugin, we have discussed him in your other thread. At least, some of us tried to discuss him with you.

It doesn't say much for the Putin lovers and supporters of a dictator if they think a failed journalist and bad news reporter is seen as a main specialist on Russian.....

Yeah. Tucker Carlson did, at one point, have a big audience and fan base. I think a lot of that has gone away. He got fired from his job and has been doing his own thing in regards to reporting. But I think he lost a lot of viewers and fans. I just say 'his star is fading'.

He had quite the fall from grace and there's plenty of different news sites describing this and seeing how RT seems to be posting a lot about far right facists these days, support for Carlson seems about on track.

www.theguardian.com...

The far-right host Tucker Carlson has left Fox News, it was abruptly announced on Monday

It was connected to a lawsuit filed by Abby Grossberg, a former senior booking producer on Carlson’s show who claims she faced sexism and a hostile work environment, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Justin Wells, Carlson’s executive producer, is also leaving the network, Semafor reported.

www.independent.co.uk...

The most likely theory is one that lays the blame squarely on Carlson's shoulders — accusations of rampant misogyny in the workplace finally caught up to him.

The seeds of Carlson's demise at the network may have been planted in a lawsuit; not the Fox-Dominion lawsuit, which cost the network $787.7m to settle, but in lesser-known litigation brought by a former producer.

Abby Grossberg, who formerly worked on Carlson's show, sued Fox News, alleging that Carlson and his producer, Justin Wells, had displayed rampant misogyny and anti-Semitism in the workplace.

Ms Grossberg claims in a federal court filing that Carlson's show "subjugates women based on vile sexist stereotypes" and that it "typecasts" religious minorities and "belittles their traditions."

That's because he is a "far rightist" and a neo-Nazi.

This much is obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense.

This was discussed in your other thread and was shown to be self evident.

Really?

How many of Putin's detractors have fallen out of windows? What happened to Prigozhin again? Alexei Navalny?

You can tell me that russia's pronouns are "we have a high moral compass", but I don't have to believe in your delusion.

Do you say that because he's no longer with Faux News? The main information source of boomer Republicans?

Actually, his following has increased since he went independent.

Cable news is the real fading star.

If you need the likes of Dugin and Tucker to support your views, desperation must have set in.

Interesting that you promote the far right.

He got canned from FOX so that audience got cut off.
He was never popular with the CNN/MSNBC/NETWORKS people.
He went independent, but his visibility has really dropped off.
MY OWN OBSERVATIONS is that he's a fading star.

As far as I can tell Carlson is a bit of a twat and definitely a fading light who is desperately seeking to find something that will keep him in the spotlight, hence his sucking up to Putin et al.

Dugin is without doubt a Nazi in everything but name.

Why would anyone be surprised that RT is promoting the bollocks these two spout.
