I think by now everyone should know by now how close to death this site is.

From how it was broken, to whom provided the bandaid, to the transparency of the owners and that underlying all that being the site is still broken.

Hopefully you are using a "burner" email account.

And I hope we can find out who is paying to keep the lights on and who is also letting our home rot.

To the owners: we have members that have been here over 20 years (me personally 15 years). If you’ve given up on the site, it would be nice if you’d let us know.

I got to know the mod team a little over the last week. Truly great people that give up their precious time for you - for FREE!

The way this went down is straight up BS. Thankfully _GHOST_ appreciates the site more than you do.

Totally agree! It is a slap in the face to the moderators who work so hard on here, and to everyone else on here. For the owners to just leave things like this is terrible.

It's an old database format that contains a vast amount of written and media material. I'm not a coder, but I don't think it's as simple as the owners sitting down over an afternoon (or twenty) and punching a few keys.

We're probably talking about an expenditure of several hundred thousand dollars, perhaps a million or more, to put it right. As I understand it from reading past discussions on the nature of this forum from many years ago, we're probably talking about hundreds of man hours of skilled labor from people with the right skills to put it right. If they miss the backdoor, then all of that is for nothing, pretty much.

It works pretty well in general. Looks like it went off the rails for a few days. Big whoop. Relax. Have a beer or a coffee. Make some threads. Be merry and stuff.
