A Michigan school district canceled its plan for an elementary classroom mini-lesson on gender identity and pronouns after receiving backlash from community members, Dewitt Public Schools Superintendent Shanna Spickard said Friday.

The lesson was announced by the district as a voluntary activity for one first grade class outside of the school curriculum to “promote greater understanding, compassion, and kindness regarding gender identity and the use of pronouns.” The district said it informed parents and guardians in advance of offering the lesson to allow the opportunity for families to opt out of having their children participate

I don't agree with what happened and with angry people sending threatening emails and messages to the school and teachers on social media or with the posting of the personal information of teachers online in an attempt to intimidate them.

At the same time I don't see the benefit in teaching kids, especially first graders, the concepts of gender identity and preferred pronouns. What exactly is there for kids to learn at this age? And I don't think this is a lesson using the strict definition but some political ideology pushed onto kids at a very young age.

The push to normalize mental illness is scary. We don't pat people with body dysmorphia on the back when they think they're fat or ugly and go along with what they say so why are we trying to do the same with people who are obviously delusional about their own biology?

Keep this crap out of schools, especially elementary schools.

Tide Turning ?

Whitmer Isn't a Doctor

She'll twist and turn ... Her eye is on DC

Flash Back - Covid

Facing a surge in Michigan COVID-19 cases in the spring of 2020 and a shortage of hospital beds, Whitmer issued an executive order on April 15 that required nursing homes with available capacity to create a dedicated unit to isolate residents with COVID-19 and accept COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals. It also designated some nursing homes to serve as "regional hubs" to accept infected residents from facilities that couldn’t safely isolate them.

I don't understand why they want to push sex... erm, gender education in elementary school. They aren't capable of understanding most of it and it will confuse them.

Much like trying to teach them trigonometry, it's not appropriate for that age group.

There is only one reason adults would be trying to expose first graders to that stuff.
Grooming.

People who actually care about their kids should pay attention.
Get involved.
Push back.
Stay involved.
These groomers and their supporters need to be kicked out of any position of authority or power.
They need to be named and shamed.
They should have exactly zero access to kids.
These perverts need to be reminded what happens when you mess with mama bears cubs.

The granddaughter is in 3rd grade and for some reason, we were talking about how chickens come from eggs, and I said, "Yep, everything comes from eggs." She was like, "Really, everything?" and I explained how bugs, frogs, fish, birds, and even cats, dogs, and people came from eggs. I didn't say too much more except that girls had the eggs and boys helped. I should have talked about how seeds were like eggs as well and how things start small and get bigger.

The thing is XX=Eggs=female, that is "The Science" they aren't teaching is my bet.

WELL people are trusting the schools with their children and then they are trying to indoctrinate them with all this junk in elementary school? I'd be beyond upset as well.

So ok, parents shouldn't be sending threatening letters and emails.
But how else were they expected to voice their disagreement with this policy, ask them very nicely if they wouldn't mind not going ahead with it?

It seems quite apparent to me that being nice and reasonable gets you nowhere with those pushing this agenda.

And the tactics obviously worked because the indoctrination programme is not going ahead.

Vigilantism is a sign of a failing society.

I agree there is a reason why some mentally damaging delusions should be kept out of school, it took time to realize that for religions it'll take not as much time to realize that for gender ideology .

Just by precentage there is more harm done by religion than any other delusion pushed onto kids, so in the end no mater the indoctrination, no matter the amount of deluded people holding on to their stupid delusions, we'll come around when it comes down to protecting kids from harm done trough school indoctrination.

Middle ground doesn't work in this country. How dare you simultaneously think both sides can be losing their minds!

I say something along those lines, a hybrid. Dont repress it, but dont emphasize it outside its necessary relevance. I think it would work fine if they made identity/orientation section during Sex-Ed in 4th or 5th grade, and like Sex-Ed itself, give parents the right to withdraw their children from it.

I don't know why people thought it needed extra accommodation and emphasis by doing sections outside the successful; 2 weeks in 4th grade, 2 weeks in 5th grade, 1 quarter in health class in 7th. If you normalize it at an acceptable age, it's normalized by high school, and can influence all younger siblings by proxy. Young children learn better by observation anyway.

It doesn't actually normalize it if you make it an admirable special identity pin, because that leads to pandering, and works against all normalization attempts. It's not a non-issue when it's a glorious self-expression that must be exalted and taught about to 6 year olds. It leads to the opposite of naturally forming identities. Save it for two weeks in 4th or 5th grade.

But there's only so much LGBT damage control one can do..

You can tell kids they can be anything they want without initially specifying what that is though.

Those idiot teachers were going to harm the children, and the parents did what all parents do ... anything to protect their children from idiots and predators.

They can still choose not to let the kids go to the 'lesson' and apply pressure so no similar 'lessons' are taught in schools. Parents can say no to gender identity and preferred pronouns 'teaching'

It's kind of funny because children actually understand gender = sex. Yet they want to confuse them with a non-scientific concepts to make creepy adults happy. Regardless of political views it's not a teachers job to be a parent. I'm tired of parental things being pushed onto us.

Good!

Here in Michigan we are getting sick and tired of the left leaning democrats socialism.

Michigan is not a blue state, not even purple.
We are as red as anywhere else, mind you outside of the city state "sanctuary" claimed urban areas.

The reason is rather obvious. They're trying to sexualize kids.

That's why there's a push to cut parents out of the decision-making process for the "trans" kids to get surgery. They want to establish the precedent that children can consent to things that previously were said to be too consequential for underage kids to consent to.

Because once they do that, the next step is pushing that if kids are able to consent to surgery, they can consent to sex.

It's obvious as # that's where this is going.

We have a failing society. Police are being marginalized and stopped from doing their jobs by demented woke policies. Woke DAs are simply not prosecuting crimes.

Look into what's called the "social contract." Essentially what government is is the people giving some of their own control of their lives over to this higher authority (the government) in exchange for that government maintaining an ordered society.

If the government violates that social contract, if the government won't do its most basic duty, which is to provide that ordered society, people will naturally take that control back.

The government is causing our society to fail, not the people who are being forced to take matters into their own hands.
